‘First ever’ intact Roman pot found in Ireland!

The IAI would like to direct your attention to a fantastic discovery from Drumanagh, Loughshinny village, Co Dublin – an intact Roman pot, possibly the first of its kind. Although the Roman Empire covered most of Europe and parts of north Africa and western Asia, there was little Roman presence in Ireland. This possible Roman pot is an amazing find, especially after last year’s find of a 2,000 year old fig (the oldest example of an ‘exotic’ fruit in Ireland) in the same area. We look forward to eventually seeing the results of these excavations and learning more about they found.
